The Estelle Campbell Charitable Foundation Shows Support of RMHCA
In May, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama honored our Adopt-a-Room sponsors at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Thanks to amazing donors like the Estelle Campbell Charitable Foundation, RMHCA was able to complete a two-year process of renovating all of the 41 rooms in the House. Jeannie Walston, BeBe Bugg and Betsy and Jimmy Holloway were in attendance for the celebration. They were able to hear an amazing first-hand experience from a family staying at the House who shared the impact a room can have for a family going through a medical crisis.
Studies show that parents whose children have longer hospital stays benefit from higher quality sleep at a Ronald McDonald House compared to parents who slept at their child’s hospital bedside. Just having a warm, cozy and comfortable room close to the hospital, like Children’s of Alabama or UAB Medicine, can help caregivers spend more time with their child, interact better with their clinical care team and even participate in the medical care decisions more often than those who are tired from sleeping at their bedside, in the car or the lobby or those traveling from far away.
Our room renovations would not have been possible without the amazing support from many organizations — we cannot express our gratitude enough.
