Ronald’s Workshop

Daydreaming of what Santa might bring for Christmas is something on the minds of most children in December.  Parents have elves that come to visit and their number one job is to report back to Santa.  Is the child on the good or bad list for the year?  What happens when a child and their siblings are not at home during the season because of a trip to Birmingham to stay in the hospital. The anxiety for the parents and the fear from the child can cause emotional stress.  The parents are wondering “When will I even have the time to get away to go Christmas shopping?” The  child is wondering, “Will Santa find me if we are not at home?”

At the Ronald McDonald House we try to take away some of the stress and worries the families go through while taking care of children who are sick or injured.  The holiday season is no different because we know how important these special traditions and moments are to the families. This is our time to spring into action and help bring some magic to the families who call our House their home.

Ronald’s Workshop is a magical shop that is created just for parents!  It’s created with love from donors and volunteers all over the state and individuals that want to make sure every child can experience a wonderful holiday.  The conference room is turned into Ronald’s Workshop just in time for parents to do all their gift shopping at no cost to them.  All the gifts are donated.  Then volunteers are on hand to help with gift wrapping.

Thank you to all the amazing individuals, organizations and companies who donated to Ronald’s Workshop. You all made the Holiday’s extra special for the children staying at our Ronald McDonald House.
