Mom and daughter bond through volunteerism

Two women Amber and Hannah joined the RMHCA volunteer team in October of 2022. From cleaning around the House, to helping meal groups, to serving pre-made casseroles, the mother-daughter duo has made a massive difference for guest families, all while making memories as a family themselves.

Making a Difference

After experiencing the highs and lows which come from being family caregivers themselves, both Amber and Hannah felt inspired to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. Mom Amber shared, “It’s a great way to spend time together while serving others.”

With high-school student Hannah approaching college, both women value the time spent together volunteering. Hannah added that the most fulfilling aspect of her time at RMHCA is “getting to help the patients and their families.”

Making Memories

Amber and Hannah both encourage others to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, “It’s worth it,’ said Hannah.

During their time volunteering they have experienced many fun moments, but when asked about their favorite, Amber quickly said, “When the Alabama Symphony Orchestra members played at the House! The families had such a great time.” Hannah recalled the joy from one RMHCA dad, whose spirits were lifted by the meal and music.

Thanks to other Casserole Crew volunteers, Amber and Hannah were able to help serve a warm meal to RMHCA guest families while the Alabama Symphony Orchestra played holiday tunes and took song requests from guests.
