Isaiah’s Story
Isiah, 11, has had a very busy summer!
He cheered on the Birmingham Barons, which was almost as exciting as getting to watch his brother play baseball. He learned how to play pinball with his three sisters, Airiona, Emma and Paysleigh. It was all made even more fun because they were together.
This summer, Isiah also underwent a major surgery called a rhizotomy, to help relieve the symptoms of cerebral palsy that restrict his mobility.
“Thank you for your generosity, to make sure my family can be together,” mom Rachel says. “When Isiah got to see his sisters after his surgery, he cried because he was so happy.”
Isiah is from Mobile and needed to have this surgery and recovery at Children’s of Alabama, four hours away in Birmingham.
“My husband is back home working,” Rachel says. “We recently bought a house so paying for a hotel would be. But of course, one of us needed to be with Isiah while he was in recovery and therapy.”
Your support of RMHC of Alabama’s mission made Isiah’s summer one of togetherness, and that is priceless!
“Being at the Ronald McDonald House means being able to relax, know we’re somewhere safe. And the beds are so comfortable,” Rachel says.
Rachel and her children have enjoyed playing on the playground at the Ronald McDonald House too. It’s a convenient place for the littlest sisters, Emma and Airiona, to expend some energy. And there’s an adaptable swing that Isiah can enjoy!
Isiah will have to visit Birmingham once a week for the near future and with your support, our doors will be open for his family and many more!
