Due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, this year’s Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K will now be held as a VIRTUAL 5K Run and Walk! We appreciate your support and rockin’ attitude as we make this event the best as possible! Here are some answers to questions you might have:
What is a Virtual Run/Walk? 👟
A virtual run/walk is one that can be run, jogged or walked at any location you choose! Our virtual Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K is staged completely on the honor system. By registering for the 5K, we assume you will complete the 5K distance of 3.1 miles at one time/in one go. If you registered for the 1 Mile Walk, you can do that virtually as well!
Do I have to do anything if I already registered?
No! See, that was easy!😎 Individuals who have already registered for Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K will automatically be transitioned to a virtual runner.
When should I complete my 5K/1 Mile Walk?
You have 9 days to complete your run or walk when and where you want! The virtual Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K kicks off on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 and you have until 11:59 p.m. CST on Thursday, September 24 to complete your run or walk.
Where should I complete my 5K/1 Mile Walk?
Wherever you want! You can run, job or walk in your neighborhood or at your favorite park. If you want to get creative, you could even hike, walk your dog, or use your treadmill.
What if I want to submit a time for a 5K award?🏆
If you want to qualify for one of our 5K awards, visit redshoerun-bham.org for details on how to submit your time.
What about the awards ceremony?
We all look forward to the post-run awards ceremony and this year is no different! You’ll have a chance to earn all the usual awards, announced at our virtual awards ceremony on Saturday, September 26, 2020 — including 5K runner awards, Best Team Spirit, Best Team/Individual Fundraiser, Biggest Team, and more.
The 9-day virtual event is your chance to submit your 5K times for awards; share your Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K photos and videos to compete for best costume, team spirit and more!
OK, cool! Are you still doing a race shirt?! 🤩
We are still printing t-shirts for all 5K, 1 Mile and Red Shoe Snoozers! You’ll get your t-shirt in your packet September 14 or 15, 2020. Tip: If you have a friend that hasn’t registered yet, they need to do so by August 28, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. CST in order for us to guarantee a t-shirt. Sizes are available on a first come, first served basis.
1. Visit our Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K event page on Facebook and select that you’re ‘Going’ to stay in the know on all race updates and “attend” the virtual awards ceremony on September 26, 2020!
2. Pick up your race packet! We are offering contact-less, curbside packet pickup at the House (1700 4th Ave S) during these days and times. You MUST RSVP so we can manage traffic. RSVP and read all the details on our handy PDF.

3. Start your Fundraiser on Run Sign Up or continue your fundraising efforts! Run Sign Up will link directly with your Facebook account and has lots of tools to share on other platforms!
