Please join the staff of RMHC of Alabama in thanking everyone who took part in the 2023 Joe Wheeler EMC Drivin’ for a Cause golf tournament!

The tournament benefited our mission of keeping families together and close to their child while in the hospital. Joe Wheeler EMC and friends raised $18,717 which covers 150 nights at the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald House Family Room at UAB Women & Infants Center.

Our House can accommodate 73 guest families with private guest rooms, laundry areas, nursing nooks, kitchens to cook meals and several indoor and outdoor play areas. The Ronald McDonald House is more than a place to rest though. Families can lean on the support and friendship of other guest families, volunteers and staff during their stay. And because the House is one block from Children’s of Alabama, parents don’t have to worry about rushing to appointments.

The Family Room is located within the UAB Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and provides a quiet space for parents to grab a bite to eat and relax, steps away from their infant. The respite area includes a small kitchen stocked with snacks and a coffee area; a sitting area with a TV, books and games; 3 private sleep rooms; 3 shower rooms; and a washer and dryer.

The Drivin’ for a Cause tournament took place on August 21, 2022 at the Deer Run Golf Course in Moulton. We are so grateful to the teams who played. The employees of Joe Wheeler EMC worked so hard to make the day successful — thank you! They were inspired by several coworkers who have benefited from RMHC services. We are honored to have served their families in the past.
