Development Manager

Overview: Working with the Development/Marketing team, the Development Manager is responsible for all aspects of donor data and information systems management and analysis in RMHCA’s databases. The Development Manager is responsible for maintaining the donor database in Raiser’s Edge software, consistent and comprehensive data analysis, prospect research, and distributing donor acknowledgments as per Gift Acceptance policy. The Development Manager plays a key role in supporting strong donor relations and cultivating new donors to achieve the annual fundraising goals and targeted fundraising campaign goals.

Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Status:  Full-Time, Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct prospect research and updates donor records accordingly.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and prospects to inform the direction of giving programs and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Communications Manger to develop and implement campaign strategies for the annual campaign to identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding prospects.
  • Prepare and submit United Way application and associated reports and stewardship.
  • Produce monthly Table of Gifts and other reports as needed.
  • Assists Major Gifts Officer with monthly pledge payment reminders/invoices.
  • Reconcile database with accounting records and TrueSense.
  • Assist Community Outreach Manager with data management of signature events including online auction platform, event registration through RunSignUp, and invoice all pledges.
  • Regularly perform data integrity functions such as duplicate clean up, address finder, etc.
  • Represents RMHCA at all signature events including Red Shoe Run and Heart of the House Gala.
  • Track prospect plans and portfolios for Development Team/Committee and create action reports.
  • Oversee Development and Communication Assistant’s work to implement aspects of direct donor mailings and other donor mailings as needed.
  • Correspond with donors as needed to update information, process donations, etc.
  • Potential opportunity to act as staff liaison to Junior Board or other affiliated groups.
  • Receive daily mail gift log from Administrative Assistant and enter all gifts into Raiser’s Edge in adherence to the separation of duties per the Financial Procedures Policy.
  • Enter and manage gift data entry and reconciliation from all sources including of McDonald’s, United Way, TrueSense and other Workplace Giving platforms (i.e. Benevity, Truist, etc.), FB fundraising, Online Express, Luminate, and other such donation collection platforms.
  • Record and process matching gifts.
  • Enter and acknowledge in-kind and meal donations.
  • Generate and mail timely gift acknowledgement letters to all donors within 48 hours of gift receipt.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities Required: Highly organized and detailed individual with a Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least three years related experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least two years of experience specifically in development and/or finance preferred.
  • Experience with Raisers Edge database software preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills (writing sample required with submission of resume.)
  • Demonstrated general administrative and clerical skills including office protocol.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and computer databases.
  • Data entry and keyboarding proficiencies.
  • Experience in Grant writing, reporting and administration preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to relate to persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Dependable, excellent judgement and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a flexible, team-oriented environment.
