Attendees give thousands to RMHCA at McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour
Friday, Sept. 11, 2017 was a night to remember for Birmingham and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama (RMHCA)!
We were honored have an RMHCA family and several staff members attend the McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel concert at Cathedral of the Cross in Center Point.
We were welcomed with open arms and the Wright family was able to share their story about why RMHCA has been such a positive impact in their lives.
“I just recently had a newborn baby. She was born at 24 weeks. I didn’t expect to possibly lose her or run the risk of losing my life,” Tonji Wright said. “She’s three weeks old. Ronald McDonald House stepped in and gave me comfort. I couldn’t afford going back and forth. I have actually seen them help families. They provide activities, they have the community come out and give to those in need.”
At each stop of this tour, attendees make a love offering to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charity in their city.
We are so humbled and grateful to share with you that Birmingham donated $16, 852.39 at the concert! This will cover nearly 170 family stays at RMHCA and will lift some of the financial burden of caring for a sick child.
We would like to thank each artist on the tour; sponsors McDonald’s and Dr Pepper; McDonald’s owner/operator Larry Thornton; McDonald’s owner/operator Dale Thornton, Jr. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for serving as ushers; AOH Church of God for hosting the concert; Faith-Based Communications for organizing it; and all the volunteers and attendees who made it special.
