Student Leadership Council

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a group of Greater Birmingham area high school students who are dedicated to the mission of keeping families together when they need it most. Students are empowered to make an impact on RMHCA guest families through four key areas: advocacy, fundraising, promotion, and volunteer service.

Membership in the SLC is highly selective and is determined through a competitive application process consisting of an online application, recommendation letters, and in-person interview. Selected students are passionate about our mission, and work together to benefit families while cultivating their own leadership skills, philanthropic spirit, and self-confidence. They are motivated to take initiative, and lead with empathy and compassion – always keeping RMHCA guest families top-of-mind as they plan fundraising events, family activities, and awareness campaigns.

The SLC is advised by Amanda McCormick, Associate Director of Events & Community Engagement.

Neon Nights

Neon Nights is a glow-in-the-dark golf experience hosted by the RMHC of Alabama Student Leadership Council!

All proceeds from this event will go directly to RMHCA and help support over 1,000 families staying at the Ronald McDonald House or visiting the Ronald McDonald Family Room at UAB Women & Infants Center.
