Meet Jason Stein –Metals Recycler with a Heart as Big as He Is!
At 6’4’ tall, there is nothing small about Jason Stein, least of all his heart.

Role with RMHCA—RMHCA “official” pop tab recycler

For years, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama (RMHCA) recycled aluminum pop tabs. However, by early 2001, the recycling program was generating minimal revenue. The program also created a lot of work. RMHCA’s limited staff had to haul pop tabs to the recycling center.

That same year, RMHCA’s new Executive Director decided the program needed to be improved or discontinued. Luckily, her first call was to Birmingham’s Jason Stein of Brothers Recycling (previously HS Metals). Almost immediately, Jason offered RMHCA two great gifts:

What Does Jason’s Involvement Means to the Ronald McDonald House?
This year, with Jason’s support, RMHCA is on track to make nearly $15,000 by recycling more than 25 million pop tabs. These little tabs will fund operation of one family bedroom at the Ronald McDonald House for more than half a year.

Why Does Jason Stein Support RMHCA?
When asked why he agreed to help Birmingham’s Ronald McDonald House so generously, Jason said:

“Years ago, I had a friend who stayed at the House because his 15 year old daughter had leukemia. They needed a place to stay while she was treated at Children’s Hospital. I’ll never forget how much the House meant to her family. It is a God send for people who live out of town and have nowhere else to go.” Jason added, “It was fate when you called. It gave me a way to memorialize my friend’s daughter by being of use to families that need the Ronald McDonald House.”

A Family Affair – After learning about RMHCA from Jason, Connie Stein, Jason’s wife, has become one of RMHCA’s most committed volunteers. Connie serves on the Founders Award Dinner Planning Committee, collects needed items for the House and spreads the word about the House’s mission and programs. Connie and Jason met when Connie sold Jason’s sister her wedding gown. Jason says it was “love at first sight.” At RMHCA, we are glad that Connie and Jason found each other and that they found so much room in their hearts for the families at the Ronald McDonald House!
