You, the public, make the comfort of Birmingham's Ronald McDonald House available to sick children and their families!
Throughout the world, more than 297 Ronald McDonald Houses and 147 Family Rooms are operated by locally incorporated and governed chapters of Ronald McDonald House Charities®. Subject to guidelines and policies specified in each chapter licensure agreement with RMHC Global (Oak Brook, Illinois) each chapter, such as Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, is responsible for managing their programs and raising funds needed for its operations. Public contributions account for the preponderance of funds needed to operate the Birmingham Ronald McDonald House and the Family Room at DCH Tuscaloosa.
- Guest fees paid by families staying at the Ronald McDonald House contributes less than 10% of total funds needed to operate the House each year.
- Fundraising events, such as the annual , Founders Award Dinner, and our Young Leadership Board Events routinely are RMHCA's largest sources of revenue.
- Grants from foundations, corporations and religious and civic organizations play an increasingly important role in RMHCA's ability to serve sick children and their families.
- Support by and through Alabama's McDonald's Restaurants, including canister funds, proceeds from the Give-a-Hand and other fundraisers generally contribute 15% to 20% of RMHCA's annual revenue.
- On average, each year, more than 90% of the money needed to operate the House is raised through local fundraising efforts and other local revenue- generation initiatives.
